Tips from the “Love List”
By Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott
Once a day... Take time to touch Have you had your hug today? A five-second hug goes a long way - especially when it comes to getting your daily requirement of touch in marriage.
Once a week... Boost your partner’s self-esteem Make a list of a half dozen things you appreciate about your spouse and keep it in a place where you will see it on a daily basis. As you review your list from time to time, it will help you be more aware of your partner’s attributes and far more likely to compliment them.
Once a month... Fire up passion in the bedroom Talk to each other about sex or ask for what you’d like. The bottom line in getting your sexual needs met is to assume that your partner doesn’t know how to satisfy you. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been married, beginning with this premise will help you set the stage for developing the habit of asking for what you’d like.
Once a year... Chart your course for the coming year Take some time to inventory what really matters most to both of you in your relationship and use it to write a mission statement for your marriage. Then write a list of no more than a half dozen things you don’t like in your marriage and set specific goals toward increasing your marital satisfaction in the New Year.
