Washingtonians want marriage, not redefinition
Families Northwest's 2004 Washington Marriage Survey
The 2004 Marriage survey was conducted by Wirthlin Worldwide among 402 Washington state adults, October 6-9th. Results have been analyzed by Wilson Research Consulting. Significance is reported with a margin of error of +/- 4.9% in 95 out of 100 cases.
Currently, marriage in the state of Washington is defined as a union between one man and one woman. Do you think this definition should be changed in any way?
Yes - 39% (34% men, 43% women)
No - 59% (64% men, 55% women)
Marriage should remain a union between one man and one woman OR Marriage should be a union between two loving adults regardless of their gender.
1 man, 1 woman - 57% (63% men, 51% women)
Two loving adults - 41% (36% men, 46% women)
Are you aware that the State Supreme Court is currently considering a case where the outcome could change the current definition of marriage in Washington?
Yes - 61% (65% men, 59% women)
No - 39% (35% men, 41% women)
