Scientists from the University of Washington - John Gottman of the "love lab" and developmental molecular biologist John Medina - have been researching stress. They’re finding that family relationships have a profound impact on a child's learning, memory and empathy toward others. One of the keys to raising emotionally healthy children who want to learn and can learn is making sure that the emotional environment of family relationships is strong and positive. For a married family that means a mom and dad that both deal positively with each other and with the child. Experience and research have shown us “divorce is a giant strain.” Single parents need appreciation and relief for the challenges of one person handling twice the amount of work. If you’re married or you want your kids to be married here are strong reasons why we should work towards healthy marriages. Scientists are proving the strong correlation between healthy marriages and parenting those children’s desires and abilities to learn for life.
