Hard to believe that the back to school sales are already being advertised on many radio stations. And with that comes the beginning of the school year. Every September brings with it mixed emotions for many kids and their parents. With each school year leading up to the senior year in high school, a child is pulling away from his parents. And letting them do that is part of giving them the best school year possible. By the same token none of us should succumb to the false impression our society gives that letting go of the controls means letting go of the relationship. Your interest, encouragement, presence and involvement will make a significant mark on your child's life this school year that helps them want to come home to a friendly environment. Let’s make it a point this school year to get to know their friends, to be available to talk on their schedule, and offer help with school and assignments. Your presence is an investment in a long term relationship.
