A while ago many of us in the Northwest woke up and realized how we’d taken Salmon runs and a healthy environment for granted. Research confirmed what fishermen feared - that neglect of our streams and rivers was threatening our Northwest fish habitats. Most of us can recall taking something or someone for granted, including our marriages and families. Thirty years of research has concluded that the best pathway for raising children involves a married mom and dad. Marriage attaches both mothers and fathers to their child and the benefits show in classrooms, communities and less need for government assistance. Common sense and decades of research show the wisdom of strengthening, not neglecting, the institution of marriage. Isn’t it time to look at the cultural eco-system; to become environmentalists for the family! We need to protect the family environment and strengthen marriage for our kids sake.
