Transcript
Don’t you hate it when little disagreements snowball into giant problems? Dr. John Gottman at the University of Washington has studied the dynamics of relationship problems and the keys to success. He calls the problems "The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse" - criticism, contempt, defensiveness and stonewalling. Gottman’s good news is that you can avoid the destructive patterns of these "four horsemen" by committing to and developing positive communication. Dr. Gottman’s research suggests that conflicts should be faced with respect, honesty and giving the necessary time to each other. Relationships can succeed when a husband assures his wife she can safely share her needs and he truly hears her. The other side of positive communication includes a wife honestly communicating her feelings.
