In the locker room at half-time the coach barked out "Well, I have good news and bad news. The good news is our quarterback has thrown three touchdown passes! The bad news is two of them went to the other team!" It appears there might be some good news and bad news about marriage. Since September hotels nationwide are seeing a 25 percent increase in weddings and receptions. More weddings - now that’s good news! People’s hearts are turning towards marriage, and marriage brings such strong benefits to individuals, society and to children. But the bad news is the speedy pace of these decisions and rushing to the altar. These reduce the relationship training and the pre-marital preparation that has proven to help couples' marriages succeed. Couples need solid friendship and preparation preceding the marriage ceremony. Resources for couples, preparing engaged couples for marriage and strengthening anyone’s existing marriage are on the web at familiesnorthwest.org. Marriages are great news! But especially when we work at them, both after and before the wedding.
