A single dad sent us this email:

I heard Family Matters and the gist of the program was that single moms are heroic. But single dads have it tough as well. It is my experience that the media is constantly denigrating them. TV programs, as well as advertisements portray men as insensitive, boorish, selfish and stupid. Please be more sensitive toward single dads in the future.

You know, I’m going to be! Many single dads as well as single moms are awesome parents. They’re doing heroic work, and in tough circumstances that many of them never wanted to be in. I’ve seen many dads today who are more involved, relational and more committed than in years past when being a dad was taken for granted. This intentional effort of fathering is a great thing. And what we all need to concentrate on is increasing the focus on families, so that many more of our kids can find success in marriage and parent the next generation in partnership as married moms and dads.
