Here’s a classified ad that grabs everyone’s attention.
Wanted: One individual for seven days a week. Needs to be a coach, referee, cheerleader, psychologist and an enforcement officer; possessing knowledge in the areas of home care, yard care, and car care; must be a daily fashion advisor to a diverse group of cliental, as well as a grooming specialist; limited knowledge of pets required; will need to consult on matters of education; community volunteer as well as act as conflict mediator, purchasing agent, and at times operate as human ATM; some nursing, teaching and tutoring required.
Wow! One human resource specialist has tallied up salary requirements and compensation for this multi-skilled position and the salary worked out to over $500,000 a year. Now I don’t think this will help many moms negotiate a higher wage. But what it should do is remind everyone of us that mothers aren’t just essential, they’re incredibly valuable and deserve both more of our help and the compensation that means so much to them: our love, respect, and appreciation. |
