No matter our past, there’s always hope for a new future. People who’ve been failed by family in the past can build a rich future just as diamonds result from compressed coal. Dear Abby published a curious tribute from a wife. She writes, "I would like to thank my father-in-law for all the lessons he’s taught my husband. Thank you for abandoning your girlfriend and newborn son 28 years ago. It has taught my husband to be a conscientious father to our children. Thank you for never taking him fishing or hunting. It has taught him to spend quality time with our daughters. Thank you for returning to their lives when he was 17, only to cheat on his mother four years later. It has made our marriage stronger. Finally, thank you for never being a role model. It has taught my husband to be a better man. Signed, grateful wife!" Wow! Here is an incredible example of turning a painful past into a brilliant future. Don’t ever let your past stop you from writing the best future possible for your family.
