Transcript Throughout the ages men have proven to have a lot lower interest in religion. New research out of the University of Washington titled "Why are Men Less Religious?" concludes that some men are short sighted and just don’t think ahead. And so, "going to prison or going to hell just doesn’t matter that much to these men." The study points to the fact that men, more so than women, tend to have shorter time horizons and focus more on immediate gratification and thrills. This parallels a thesis by author George Gilder called "Men and Marriage." Gilder makes the point that on whole, men are adventuresome individuals, risk takers and at times not very responsible. But the two key things that help them mature are their fathers and the institution of marriage. Marriage gives men a focus on a single relationship that meets their needs and the needs of their wife. And fatherhood helps men focus on their kids and their family as a whole.
