Transcript During the teenage years kids are learning to live with freedom more than they’ve ever had before. This is why it’s so essential that they know they have an open door with their parents for help and guidance, not judgement. A couple of weeks ago a mom was sharing with me about how her teenage daughter was invited to a pretty big party. "But mom," she said, "everybody’s going, and I’ve got to be there." This mom and her husband really didn’t want her to go, but as teens grow older they realized there comes a time where you have to let go a little bit and allow them to make their own choices. The mom reassured her daughter that they would be home and if she needed anything she should phone. About an hour into this party the phone rang back at home. The parents were asked by their daughter to come and pick her up as soon as possible. Just a short time later the girl’s parents arrived. Once inside the car the girl was so relieved as she shared the gory details of parents not being home and things that were going on that were inappropriate. Hey parents, let’s trust our teens to make wise decisions and be there to offer as much help as possible.
