You know my father played 13 years in the NFL and I played 11 myself, which makes us a pretty big family of Super Bowl fans... especially of a game as awesome as 2004, that wasn’t decided til the final seconds. But, one for my family sake and two having played in the NFL, I was embarrassed by the half-time show. It was a signal that things have gone too far. The investigations by the FCC have really been a long time coming. And for years TV’s been trying to pass off this kind of crass, sexually explicit stuff as entertainment. But I think there’s a silver lining in this dark cloud that exposed itself during the half-time of the game. The nation has woken up and realized that we still have common sense. We still respect sexuality as something that has a certain element of privacy and specialness to it. In fact, I think this has opened up the door to start speaking up positively for marriage and sexuality, as opposed to cheapening sex and divorcing it from marriage. All of us need to work for better entertainment and the strengthening of marriage. |
