Now I don’t want to pick on Britney, but I think it’s time our society’s pendulum swings back to treating marriage as valuable and sacred. It requires commitment and deserves preparation, planning and relationship skills, even courtship! Research shows that all these important elements lead to higher success and satisfaction in marriage and less divorce. What a poignant picture that a Hollywood marriage in Vegas would last 55 hours and cause deep embarrassment. Alexander Solgenheitsen said, "we always pay dearly for chasing after that which is cheap." Marriage is not cheap. And this weekend wedding should cause us to point our young people to investing and preparing before they enter the sacred institution of marriage.
