Transcript In the movie City Slickers, comedian Billy Crystal leads the audience through a comedic view of three men in their 40’s, struggling through mid-life crisis. In a conversation about what gives true meaning and purpose in life, one of the three proposes sharing the greatest day of their lives. But ironically, each agree that they can’t talk about their kids being born, because that was a given. Isn’t it true that the greatest memories in life are of our kids being born. And the memory of the birth of Jesus Christ marked the start of a new era in our calendar. Christmas time is a wonderful time to mark the start of news eras in our families, of dealing with relationship problems, of saying that we’re sorry and becoming intentional about the way we’d like to live our lives. This special time of year promotes the spirit of giving, not of taking. Maybe this holiday season can be a very special one for us as we let the memory of this child’s birth remind us all that new starts are possible and they start from humble beginnings. |
