Transcript
The state of Oklahoma was ranked second in the country for its rate of divorces, and because of it Governor Frank Keating declared "a state of marital emergency." Did you know that the state of Washington is ranked 14th? In Oklahoma, leaders realized that divorce is having a tremendous negative impact on children and communities. It’s affecting public life from daycares and schools, to counseling centers and even prisons. This is why it is so important for all of us to support and improve our marriages. Business leaders, are you communicating that marriage makes a difference in your employee’s life by encouraging them to make time for their spouses? Lawyers, are you advocating couples that are considering divorce to get involved in marriage counseling? Coaches and youth leaders, are you speaking well of marriage in front of the kids you lead daily? Remember, we all play a part in helping marriage succeed.
