Transcript The state of Oklahoma was ranked second in the country for its rate of divorces, and because of it Governor Frank Keating declared "a state of marital emergency." In working at getting to the root of the problem, those in leadership have discovered that the financial price tag of divorced families is overwhelming. They have also realized that this private decision of marriage and subsequent decision to divorce is having a tremendous negative impact on communities and families. This high number of divorces in today’s society is becoming a public concern. The after shocks of divorce are showing up in all spectrums from daycares and schools, to counseling centers and even prisons. This is why it is so important for all of us, whether we’re a teacher, a coach, a lawyer, or a community leader, to support and improve our marriages. Hey, marriage is private and public.
