Athletes through the years have had habits that they believed brought them luck. "Pistol" Pete Maravich had baggy-saggy socks that hung over his shoes. He wore them in every game. But the reality is the greatest athletes, like Pistol Pete, intensely study, prepare and work to be their best. They leave as little to chance as possible. It’s the same with good marriages - they don’t just happen by accident, they happen because of intentional preparation and unconditional commitment to grow with each other. Did you know that half of all divorces happen in the first five years of marriage and one of the greatest ways to help successfully navigate through those initial stages of marriage is pre-marital education? There are so many good resources. Counselors and churches have retreats and classes. They can help you pinpoint relational strengths and weaknesses and give you the valuable skills with the purpose of helping you see if you are ready for marriage and right for each other.
