Today’s research affirms the incredible benefits of strong marriages. But recent findings reveal some great clues on how to have a great and growing marriage. Relationship expert Gary Smalley points out the amazing power of a married couple participating in a group of other married couples; a small community of support. Smalley points out that a Missouri company studied couples that are in small groups and those that were not. The research found that “couples in small groups double their chances of staying married and increase their marital satisfaction by as much as 72% compared to couples who were not in small groups.” The bottom line is that marriages can succeed and grow, and we should work to make that happen. One of the best antidotes to divorce and tools for growth is to form a small group and commit to share in the ups and downs of life. So look around your neighborhood, where you work, your church, or among parents of your kids' friends and find another married couple or two that you’d like to build a friendship with that goes a step further and deeper.
