Transcript A study recently discovered that 84% of today’s television sit-coms contain some form of sexual content. And with all the negative messages on sex, you may feel like a soccer goalie with eleven balls coming at you. I mean, how can anyone of us compete with this kind of power? Some encouraging news: our research indicates kids listen to their parents seven times more than any form of media. Parents, I want to encourage you; kids will respond much more to a positive message rather than a laundry list of "no’s." It’s as if I got in the huddle and told my team "hey guys, it’s third and eight, I don’t want any fumbles, no interceptions, I don’t want any penalties, no one mess up! Ready break!" You get to the line of scrimmage and everyone’s asking "hey, what’s the play?" No one is interested in not making mistakes, but the whole team is interested in succeeding. Isn’t our key as parents giving our kids something to say yes to? A goal like regret-free relationships; a vision for what they can do and be. Hey, let’s practice positive parenting. |
