Eric: In a recently published study, the Kaiser Foundation discovered that 84% of today’s television sitcoms include some form of sexual content. Here's the Director of Families Northwest, Jeff Kemp.
Jeff: While our teenagers and small children watch in prime time, writers and producers cheapen sex, ignore marriage, and gloss over the physical and relational dangers. This is why as parents one of our high priorities should be to watch the programs our kids are watching. It’s great to ask questions and talk with our kids. What message does T.V. present? Is "safe-sex" the only moral concern? Shouldn’t we consider whether the giving of ourselves or taking from another the most intimate of experiences is a good thing, without the committed love of marriage? Parents, we need to teach our kids that life is about relationships, not just sex... and that the wonderful nature of sex is meant for marriage and family. Isn’t that the most intimate, enjoyable and safest place? |
