Vacations are a real privilege and are an important experience for families. Did you know that in Europe folks take four-to-six weeks off for a vacation, compared to the American whirlwind that tries to cram all the fun and sightseeing in one week? What that leads to many times is a lot of pressure and disappointments over the little things that inevitably go wrong! So maybe this summer before you head out remember that the most important thing we take with us on vacation is the right attitude - an attitude that can handle the ups and downs of your trip. Here are a few tips for this summer:
  • PLAN FOR THE UNEXPECTED Make plans, but be flexible and allow for the uncontrollable.
  • TRY NEW WAYS TO DEAL WITH DISAPPOINTMENT Flat tire, mosquitos, delays on the freeway? Hey! Get ready to laugh rather than explode in frustration.
  • ACT LIKE YOU’RE ON VACATION Take advantage of not having a routine or deadline, and enjoy each other.
Even bad things can become good when we’re looking for opportunities instead of focusing on the inconveniences.
