Transcript Carla and Eric Lapp were expecting their second child when they sat down and tried to figure out how the family finances would need to be changed. The Seattle Times reported that after listing incomes from both their jobs and projected expenses, they made a discovery that changed their lives. They calculated that after paying for daycare for their two kids, rent, and two car payments, that they would be bringing in only 20 dollars more a month with two paychecks. That was three years ago. Since that time the Lapps decided that Eric would quit his job, stay at home with the kids, become a one income household, and have more time to spend together as a family. At a recent marriage seminar I attended, men and women were both challenged to see how much more fruitful and satisfying their family life can be if they applied some basic principles and took an intentional approach to put their families first. Have you asked your spouse what he or she wants out of life, marriage, or family? Maybe like the Lapps you’ll discover more time and an improved family life are within your grasp, as long as you're willing to lighten your grip in other areas. |
