I played pro-football for 11 years and I don’t think there’s anyone in football who works harder or has a more difficult life than the coaches. The hours they put in each week are unbelievable. But dinner time has always been a family priority for Coach Mike Holmgren and his family. Mike and Kathy have been married for 29 years and have four daughters. When all four girls were at home, at least one night per week the family had a special night where they‘d all have dinner together. Kathy commented that one of the most important things families can do is "preserve the dinner hour, or at least one meal a day." Meals allow you to talk to each other and hold the family together. And the kitchen should always be a place where your kids can come and talk things through. She points out that kids won’t come to you in a crisis unless they already have a relationship with you. For the Holmgren’s, dinner time has represented what they want to achieve - a connected family. Does the family dinner hour need a comeback in your family, and in mine?
