In an age where we hear a lot about falling in and out of love as if it’s almost out of our control, and where we see a number of marriages fail around us, it’s important to be reminded that it need not be that way. Marriage can work! But it takes a proactive approach, a strategy, and intentional effort. Let me tell you about a young couple who followed through on their plan and made their marriage last. They even called their strategy "The Shining Barrier." The goal was to make their love invulnerable. And their plan was simple: share everything! Whether it be strawberries, poetry, or ships at sea, the two committed themselves to share everything either of them liked. That way they would find thousands of strands, great and small, that would link them together. The closeness they developed made it unthinkable for either of them to drift towards someone else. Have you ever thought about being proactive in your marriage with a strategy? Maybe it’s time to sit down and talk about that.
